Rockingham County Superior Court
A person may be charged with a felony in a local circuit or district court,. However, those courts have limited jurisdiction in felony cases, and may only set bail or hold a probable cause hearing. New Hampshire Circuit and District courts cannot hold trials or accept pleas in felony matters. Most felony cases are ultimately transferred to the Rockingham County Superior Court in Brentwood. If a grand jury reviews the case and determines that it should be prosecuted, the grand jury will issue an indictment, and the case will then be scheduled for arraignment and trial in the superior court.

10th Circuit Court - Brentwood (formerly Exeter District Court and Brentwood Family Court)
The Exter District Court was formerly located in the basement of the Exeter Town Hall. The Statue of Justice which sits atop the Town Hall's cupola is proudly displayed in the upper right-hand corner of our website.
In 2005, the Court moved to the Rockingham County Superior Court building, which is located on Route 125 in Brentwood, New Hampshire. (Click here for directions.) In 2011, as part of a major court restructuring initiative, the Exeter District Court was re-named. It is now officially known as the 10th Circuit Court, District Division - Brentwood.
The restructuring also resulted in the Brentwood Family Court being made a division of the 10th Circuit Court. Both the district and family divisions are located in the same courthouse building, which also houses the Rockingham County Superior Court.
